Wolf Tracks
Wolf Tracks is a modern tale of a boy and a wolf. The lessons include the imperative to cherish and protect natural resources. Along with its environmental perspective, Wolf Tracks highlights the value of recognizing the point of view of others -- a message that lies at the core of understanding different people and cultures. Commissioned by the Russian Arts Foundation together with the Russian National Orchestra and developed under the artistic direction of Kent Nagano, Wolf Tracks combines a score by Jean-Pascal Beintus and text by Walt Kraemer and Martha Bredon. Contributors also include Linda Whitaker and Hélène Grimaud, co-founder of the Wolf Conservation Center.
Wolf Tracks was given its world premiere in August 2002 at the Stern Grove Festival in San Francisco, before an audience of 8000 people. The performance also featured Sergei Prokofiev's classic Peter and the Wolf. Both pieces were narrated by acclaimed actress, choreographer and producer Debbie Allen.
The music was subsequently recorded by PentaTone Classics, in Super Audio CD (SACD) format. Voice-overs will be provided by prominent individuals - watch here for more information! The CD will be released in 2003 and will benefit wildlife preservation worldwide.
